Growing up in Yangon City, I am extremely lucky and fortunate to have gotten all the necessary amenities and education. After migrating to Singapore, I realised that there were many children left behind who are not as privileged. I felt the need to always stay grounded and contribute back to my own roots as much as I can. In 2018, I have kick started my volunteering service through the opportunities given by the school - Youth Expedition Program (YEP).
Youth Expedition Programme @ Yangon, Myanmar | Ngee Ann Polytechnic | 2018
In September 2018, I volunteered myself to participate in Youth Expedition Programme (YEP) whereby I get to travel back to my hometown, Yangon, to help orphans renovate a library corner and a computer room.

Previously, the reading corner was filled with piles of old dirty books, therefore, it was not a conducive and healthy environment for the children to read.

Hence, we helped to clear out and reorganise the space. In addition, we helped to install a new premade book shelf, carpet, some tables and chairs.

Similarly, we helped to clear out the computer room space, which was once used as a store room, installed 4 new computers and the electrical cables.

On top of that, we taught them some basic english language and mathematics using the resources that we pre-prepared back in Singapore.

Through this experience, I felt a sense of contentment and achievement that I was able to give back to my own community and roots.
